salamat at sori

May natuloy bang kitaan kahapon?

Bring on the juice!

Mabuti't narito tayong lahat. Kulang na lang, si size thirty-seven.

Sa bente-tres ako natapos dati, sa 'A Man for All Seasons' ni Robert Bolt.

Friday last..

I had a very very miserable day last Friday. Some asshole stole my keys the day before, which got me worried a lot. (1) It had all my keys, so I wouldn't be able to just crawl home to my other dungeon, (2) I would have to request copies of  the FC bathroom from the department people, and that was so totally inconvenient. Wasn't looking forward to it. It would have been fine if I were alone in the Dungeon, but I had a roommate to think of, and she just left a recorder so I had to make sure nobody gets it. That was Thornsday.

Come Friday, and after an entire night praying to the God of Lost Keys, and I still woke up with no keys on my desk, I really became frazzled. I came to school really early in my attempt to fix things. Whoever stole my keys knew who it belonged to, what room, and what could be in it. So I crept in the department, and as I had predicted, people weren't too enthusiastic about it. I mean, come on, give me a break--it's not like I wanted those keys to be stolen. My brain wasn't functioning too well, and I was really on the verge of just crying.

I tried contacting my roommate, but after asking way too many people, nobody still knew her mobile number. A call to her dorm said that she wasn't in, and there were notes for her on our door and they haven't been moved an inch. She was nowhere to be found. I was becoming convinced that maybe she really was imaginary. I left a message for her at her dorm and accosted everyone, asked them if they'd seen her and please tell her to call me.

I decided that if nobody was going to help me solve the riddle of the stolen keys, then I must do something about this myself. I trooped to the shopping center looking for a new doorknob. Yes, I went doorknob shopping so even if the key thief went back and stuck those keys in our hole, it wouldn't work. I would be able to say, Nyahahaha! You're pushing the wrong buttons, nyahaha! But it wasn't as easy as it sounded. The first set of knobs cost Php560+, quite an amount and I didn't really want to spend that much. On my second attempt at the local hardware, there was one for just Php160+. I asked the guy there to teach me how to install the damned thing, and they tried selling me a Philips screwdriver, but didn't have enough money for that. I just got the knob and boarded an Ikot jeep. Midway, rain started to really pour hell on earth. I was sat near the end, and boy I was soaked. I opted to get off near CASAA, thinking that taking the AS walk would at least keep me in relatively dry land. But no... The short short walk from waiting shed to that covered walk really soaked me. But I was happy--I finally heard from Imaginary Roommate! She's back from whatever field trip she took and would be going to FC in 20 minutes. Yay!

Meanwhile, since I had to keys to the bathroom, I went to the 2nd floor one and attempted to dry my jeans on the hand drier. I risked ridicule and looking like a stupid fool with her leg all stretched at a crazy angle. But well, it made my pants legs partially dry, so I can't really complain.

It really wasn't one of my good days.

I went down and turned the corner and was so extremely happy that the door was open. I asked the maintenance dudes if they could help us change the lock. By now, one of the department people warmed up and got a screwdriver and tried to install the damn thing. Except that the thingie connecting the clicker to the lock itself was short. Hardware Guy insisted that all doors are just the same size, but I suppose he just wanted to sell some. The original knob was longer, while the one I got was just 2-3 freaking inches. By now, I was getting scared that I would have to go back to the SC and get another knob. It was getting late, it's going to be a weekend, and I just couldn't leave knowing that somebody has the keys to our office.

Enter Maintenance Guy #2, who passed by and got curious. My cheapie doorknob wouldn't hold. They said it was made for inner doors--bathrooms, maids' quarters or something--not main door material. He said he had another knob and it's from one of the other offices so it would fit. Those damn things cost php1k in the market. Geez, I wasn't going to pay that much for a f*cking doorknob. They put the new old knob in. It fit, hurray.

So we had a new knob, but with only one key. By that time, Imaginary Roomie got bored and just waved the key ownership to me for the meantime. She rarely ever goes in anyway, so she got her umbrella and ran the hell out of there.

So the case of the lost keys was shelved for the meanwhile. Might still have the knob changed, but not in the priority list. Meanwhile, my next hurdle was whether or not to attend the gala of Tatarin. I had not confirmed my attendance because something came up the day I was going to RSVP. We figured out ways how to crash the event. Then BnC's officemate R texted he's going to watch and that his ticket was good enough to accomodate us both. So hurray, hurray.

Watched play, so lotsa semi-naked young men who jumped up and down and young women who moaned their way through the performance. I don't know why we troubled ourselves with the RSVP thing when they didn't even check our tickets. By the time the play ended, it was 9pm, and it had rained continuously during the performance. Got word from Tamadita that Katipunan was a mess, that the traffic wasn't moving. Even one of the actors in the play--the hot lola who turned out to be a man--said that he nearly missed the opening curtain. He was stuck in Katipunan from 230pm to nearly 6pm. He got off the jeep and ran all the way to the theater.

Officemate R and I walked over to Balara and was just in time for a jeep bound for Katipunan. However, when it was time to go, the engine refused to start. We were asked to transfer to another jeep, and was surprised to find that some other people had made singit and now we had to wait for the next jeep. When we got in, the jeep took nearly an hour to crawl that stretch from Balara to Starbucks. During the trip, I told R about my unfortunate cross-city trek one rainy day during our undergrad years. I had to hike my way from Diliman to Manila just so I could get home after a very heavy downpour. I told him I wasn't up to that kind of torture anymore. Besides, I picked Friday to wear my heeled shoes to wade in the mud. Bummer.

We met up with BnC and Tamadita in Starbucks. We had decided to wait it out, and the traffic didn't let up until past 2 am or so. And that's just Katipunan. The road going to Manila via Aurora was still one long angry anaconda of gridlocked vehicles. We decided to crash BnC's place, where we played Planet Hollywood while her mum kept on mumbling that we should get some sleep already.

Officemate R crept out of the house sometime in the morning. Was still too groggy to even wave him out. But I could hear BnC giving him directions on how to get out of the village. We slept some more and had Spam for breakfast. We had reruns of Sex and the City for Tamadita, and then BnC's nyowa came by and we watched Old Boy. It was a nice violent movie. The Koreans have this thing for pulling out your teeth. Then we all piled into the car and Tamadita and I hit Sta Lu where we had a second breakfast of pancakes and bacon and sausages.

I managed to catch the last train bound for Manila, even if it meant trudging over the mud in my heeled shoes. Got interrogated why I came home just then and I told my mum I was in no condition anymore to make cross-city treks when stranded amidst rains and floods.

Today I just stayed home because I don't want to be stranded again. And after spending several SONA seasons getting stuck in school, I just try to avoid it whenever I can.

So where were you people last Friday?

Last Friday...

on writing

on writing chuva

Kaya lang broke na ako by that time and he got both copies, hindi ko alam kung anong ginawa niya. Astig yung librong yun.

Hehehe) I checked out the travel agency na, and I just need to email W some more to see if puwede niya akong ampunin para di na ako magbook ng hotel. Pero I would like to try being alone kahit na one night lang. Para feeling all alone by my lonesome di ba? But I always get that particular issue, so isipin ko muna. Available naman online yung mga essays eh.

La Diva, ayaw mo ba nun, "hot" ka raw? Hehehe.

PDA=poor dumb asshole

kawawang marcus aka the diva's stalker.  his tiny brain just can't comprehend what we're talking about.  being called the diva doesn't automatically make you a girl.  ngayon naging hot lesbian pa!  sheesh...

kantogirl, i agree with a t.  go to bangkok if it's what you really want to do for your birthday.  don't feel so confused about it.  i mean lahat naman ng supposed cons ay nahanapan mo ng sagot di ba?  even W acknowledged na you're old enough.  ergo, an adult who can make independent decisions.  ;-)

hindi pa ako sure about the july 30 gimik.  i have to check my schedule.  post na lang ako next week kung go ako or not.

"Writing is a lonely job. Having someone who believes in you makes a lot of difference. They don't have to make speeches. Just believing is enough." --Stephen King

HAha. Napatawa talaga ako. NApangiti.

So there.

Pero in the meantime, tapusin ko muna itong libro...

Huwat? No hentai?

Not that I mind, really. For me keri lang kahit wala nun since I'm not really a big porn fan. I'm sorry La Diva, pero I didn't really enjoy all the discs which you bequeathed me.

Pasensya na sa previous post. I thought blogger ate it, and I didn't see BnC's previous post so medyo delayed reaction ako.

Cannot Find Server at kantogirl 9:34 a. m.  | 0 comment(s)

Can you say slow

Christ! Ang slow naman ng stalker mo, The Diva, tagal tagal na naming pinag-uusapan ang iyong house and the Wife, hindi pa niya ma-gets at ginawa ka pang lesbiana. Is there something in the way you write ba?

Sobrang tambak ng work ngayon plus deadline deadlines deadlines coming up so I don't know if I can make it sa hentai night. Also, I'd rather opt for Hitchcock nights than hentai nights after I spent so much during our last visit to the Q.

xkg, don't worry about your bangkok trip. Go if you really want to. I don't think tamadita and I can make it to this August trip especially with all our economic activity lately.  If you don't push through with Bangkok, we could always think of smashing ways of celebrating your birthday. I already booked Nicolle for Aug 19 for Divisoria Day to fulfill our early Christmas shopping promise. Also, I think Dennis wanted to haul our asses to Los Baños to grace his class with our presence. No word there yet.

Ok, Los Baños or Divisoria doesn't sound like Bangkok.

i-pod for freshies?

In a new bid to get technology closer to students and enhance their study habits, Duke University is handing out spanking new iPods to its freshman class when they arrive on campus on August 19:
On Monday, the university announced a deal with Apple to distribute 1,650 of the hand-held gizmos to first-year students. Duke will get a discount and give them free to freshmen -- for keeps.
The iPods generally are used to store and play music; the 20-GB model, which the students will get, can hold up to 5,000 tunes. But the Duke students, being brainy and all, will use the iPods mostly for academics.
Or so Duke hopes.

"Whoa!" said rising Duke freshman Mollie Tucker of Raleigh when she learned she'd pocket an iPod. "It sounds like a good idea. It sounds really cool."
Grabeng back to school come on yan ha. Of course the university hopes the students will use it for academic purposes. My foot. And of course, the tuition fee isn't minimal. But still, the day na merong ganitong klaseng handout ang UP sa freshman class, tangina, mag-uUPCAT ako ulit.

looks like msword to me

Whoa! Para na siyang MSWord with all those fancy buttons kaya puwede na tayong maging font-, color- at size- happy!

To The Diva at clf, usapang lasing ba kamo?

To The Diva's invite: that's barely 2 days  before my supposed obs. Shyet. Pero sige, yay, hentai.

...plus...

hehehe...

Neferti fantasies ulit

You really just never know what you can find out in the web. The Diva's favorite (fantasy) professor was apparently part of Pisay Batch 80. So that puts her at around nearly 40 or thereabouts. O di ba?

I mentioned before that the new book Fantasy Production contained a previously printed essay about Himala, but during the signing, she said it was an entirely different essay than the one that appeared in Geopolitics of the Visible. Yun lang. Just wanted to set the records straight. But my favorite Neferti piece is still her review of Killing Time in a Warm Place, which curiously also has "fantasy" in its title. If I'm not mistaken, it's called something "The Fantasy Secret of Killing Time in a Warm Place." Or something like that. I read that in Diliman Review long long ago nung undergrad pa tayo and I was scurrying and running around like a headless chicken kasi I had to come up with a decent paper for Issy Reyes' class.

Before anybody out there thinks I'm a stalker, lemme just say that I'm getting my fingers busy while tamadita and a t are grumbling around finishing prison duties. So there. Also, this is for The Diva.

lean mean fantasy machine

grumble grumble

so malamang may problema sa server namin.

putsa, thursday na! gusto ko na mag-weekend!

yep, a t, please bring hentai. mukhang lahat ng newest titles, meron yung bro mo. dala rin ako ng blank cds, sana may burner si diva. hehehe...

Cannot Find Server at evil wolf 2:11 a. m.  | 0 comment(s)

hentai etc

clf, i only assumed you might have copies of hentai since you recommended a bunch. anyway, nagvolunteer si a t ng hentai ng brother niya, so hindi ikaw ang hentai master. hehe.

as for erap moving to his vacation house and the FPJ camp being quiet, we might propose some conspiracies. palagay nyo ba nagkaroon ng trade off? sige na, FPJ won't question GMA's ascendancy, pero dalhin nyo na sa boracay si erap. you think ngayon lang nagkaroon ng betrayal ang edsa dos? durr. ever since tamadita woke me up one saturday afternoon with the message that GMA declared her intention to run, after explicitly saying that she wouldn't, i thought that was a slap enough. anyway. tatahimik na rin ako kasi baka makasuhan din ako ng rebelyon.

kay a t, sinundan ko lang kasi yung bilangan sa blog. na-include na yung Last Order prior to Lion in Winter, pero sige check ko ulit. I actually made a table with all the books we read.

book #20

correction. book 19 dapat yung bilang ko kasi i also read last order sa penguin and blogged it together with lion in winter. para naman madagdagan ang aking book at magmukhang almost halfway through na tayo sa 50 books natin, book number 20 ko ang Owl Friends by Carla Pacis na binasa ko for my CL 282 class. Still have to read her 3 other novels. For my critique of the book, wait for my paper.

hey, i wanna get a copy of the original email about kris. wala lang.

hah? ako? what?

Kris cries libel

Okay, here's an excerpt from an inq7 article about the Kris Aquino libel thingie:
"The column feed criticized Aquino for not acting her age and for behaving "like a blushing kolehiyala [college girl]." It also mentioned Aquino's having had STD, as revealed by Aquino herself during her public breakup with former Parañaque Mayor Joey Marquez last year, and her affairs with married men. It said Aquino "deserved" the STD.

In her affidavit, Aquino said Defensor's e-mail "expressly stated that I deserve the disease . . . and implied that I am promiscuous and a woman of loose morals who should not be listened to nor viewed as a host in a morning TV program." The e-mail also referred to "Good Morning, Kris" as "pure commercialism."

Inquirer Entertainment contacted Kris for comment, but she said her lawyer had advised her not to talk about the case."

down blogger down

Kanina ko pa gusto magblog kaya lang down ang bloody blogger so I just read H/d fanfic wherein Harry and Draco Malfoy have fightsex. Weird. Don't ask me why I'm reading this, and I'm no HP fan. This has been recommended to me by The Diva, whom I had chanced upon on ym.

Tungkol kay Kris Aquino, one of my former co-writers at the network texted me about the alleged libel suit against the network and the PR person in question. Ka-batch namin sa scriptwriting workshop yung PR, she was one of the more mature women with children. Kilala yun ni a t. I tried searching for the offending article/PR feed. But wasn't quite successful. Recent tabloid articles just refer to it as about Kris Aquino and Morning Girls, but nothing juicy and concrete. Actually for a while there, I was sort of afraid na baka ma-trace sa blog natin yung Kris Aquino issue because of what I posted some days back. Kung may balita kayo what this is all about, whisper it to me.

About email being traced. Walang program, but it is doable. People forward things and don't delete headers. That's one. Another way is to trace the IP addresses. Most servers and site trackers have that, and that's also doable.

Btw, napansin ko lang medyo nagkakalimutan na tayo about the 50 books challenge, especially since Dennis is missing in action. I catalogued our replies and this is the latest update:

a t: Book # 18, Lion in Winter. 18 June.
xkg: Book # 24, Fairy Tale as Myth. 2 July.
tb: Book # 20, Labyrinths, Papa Borges.

May pa ang last post ni Dennis. Actually, at the rate he was going, he would have finished the entire 50 books by end of summer. But he's slowed down. I'll upload the list somewhere para may idea tayo how we're doing.

Jol, please refresh our memories: what does CBWDTD mean? I think it refers to Kris but am not sure. Saka nagtatanong nga pala si The Diva when we're all dropping by their house to watch some hentai. Sabi ko it depends on you kasi ikaw ang may kopya. Keep us posted on that.

anyways, hentai recommendations-

1) la blue girl- any part

2) lady blue - katuloy ng la blue girl series, very good except for the irritating flute music

3) cool devices - hehehe

4) Countdown 1 o Countdown 2 - nice art. yep, yung art.

beware of rich spoiled brats

nathan,

kaya raw na-trace yung mail, kasi office e-mail yata yung nagamit.

ang nakakaloko dito, ilang beses na akong nakatanggap ng same email mula sa same person sa loob ng ano, 2-4 years? wow, how stupid can you get?

so lesson number 2, kapag magkakalat ng kalokohan, gumamit ng web-based e-mail.

so there.

Neferti, My Love!

Until The Diva arrived and he got me the book.

Sabi ni Neferti most of the pieces were written here (sa Pinas) kapag umuuwi sila at least once a year.

Correction nga rin pala: Sabi ni The Diva, we were her student FIVE years ago. Pero baka nga mas accurate yung six years, but he really said five.

Nung moment na nagpapapirma na kami, she doesn't really remember us. And I didn't really want to bring up the only thing that would refresh her memory: that I was the brazen one who was so "uncool" by being absent on report day. Wah!

Ang ending lang nun, nakikain kami and spent an eternity playing stay or go. We kept on nudging The Diva to go ahead and approach her and talk. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, all it took to get him out here and make an appearance was because Neferti is here. Hehehe.

About the apartment: yep, homey siya. But it's quite a long walk at feeling ko pa nung umpisa nawawala na ang The Diva at di matagpuan ang sariling bahay. I like their furniture. Saka nga pala, he bequeathed me his minimal porn collection na na-fast forward ko lang kasi I realized the videos were kinda not outstanding. But do you expect from amateurs starring in Sikreto ng makati right? Ang masasabi ko lang, it's never a good idea to have yourself filmed while your mouth's full.

Sa Boracay bomb: awww. I want to do something special (uuy) sa birthday ko. Got to mark the day I turn an adult. Feh.

Kay GMA: I don't think natutulog pa siya.

Yun lang.

Cannot Find Server at kantogirl 7:35 p. m.  | 0 comment(s)

boracay bomb

and no, hindi po ito literal. babaeng kanto, i don't think matutuloy tayo (or rather ako at si a t) sa island paradise this august for your birthday shebang. parang hindi yata namin napaghandaan. ehehe. sorry po.

by the way, kids, kantogirl and i went to the diva's place last friday. in fairness, ang homey ng apartment nila. parang gusto ko na nga mag-board dun eh. note to the diva: if there's a vacancy in the compound, a t and i are very much interested.

agree ako sa pinost ni CLF. i cannot, for the life of me, understand why GMA is making all those decisions. i actually don't know anyone who voted for her. hmmm. oh, and i don't understand why the f*cking government would announce that the pinoy prisoner was set free while it was denied by the kidnappers. lies! lies! all lies! ang gulo talaga ng gobyerno natin dito sa pinas. anybody out there who thinks otherwise has blinders over his eyes. blah!

orayt! friday!

pipol,

cost of daily death allowance

Leche silang lahat.

Buti na lang Friday na

To tell you the truth, am so glad na Biyernes na, although technically dahil hindi pa ako natutulog, eh extended Thursday night pa rin ngayon.

If The Diva can cut short his work, so can you.

Tamadita, what about you?

Magkakaroon daw kasi ng Fight Club, The Musical! Siyempre natuwa naman ako. Tanong ko lang din, pag ginawa ba nila ang Regal Shocker, The Musical, kasama pa rin ba si Ruffa Gutierrez paired with Aljon Jimenez at kasama ang pre-Ula Juday starring as the monster in the closet? Wala lang. Ang true horror dun ay si Ruffa in her orange and magenta outfit, teased hair and colegiala accent, like it's so 80s revival di ba?

blah blah

Neferti Tadiar's Fantasy Production

Heto lang ulit ang isang little memo tungkol sa isang person from our not too distant past.
The Ateneo de Manila University Press and Kritika Kultura warmly invite you to
the launching of Neferti Tadiar's FANTASY-PRODUCTION: Sexual Economies and other Philippine Consequences for the New World Order, on FRIDAY, July 9, 4.30 to 6 pm, Faculty Lounge, De la Costa Hall, ADMU campus.

To offer an understanding of the dynamics of Philippine fantasy-production, the author looks "at a broad range of phenomena characterizing the contemporary national formation of the Philippines, including the prostitution economy, the mass migration overseas of domestic workers, urban restructuring, and the
popular revolt deposing the Marcos dictatorship, as well as
representational works of art, poetry, historical narrative, and film, which try to intervene in these historical conditions."

According to Vicente Rafael, "FANTASY-PRODUCTION is an important and
much needed intervention in the growing debates regarding globalization and its vicissitudes especially in the so-called third world. It is of great value to those with a stake in grafting feminist critiques of modernization theory with postcolonial theories regarding the fate of the nation-state amid emergent
conditions of the international (and gendered) divisions of labor. And it is a welcome addition to the growing body of critical area studies, offering theoretically informed analysis of an important area of Southeast Asia."

Neferti Xina M. Tadiar is associate professor at the University of
California, Santa Cruz.

For a while there, nung nabasa kong "Fantasy Production" parang tunog porn siya pero hindi. Hehehe. Ah, the good old days of just kicking back and staring at Neferti Tadiar and pretending that I got past the first paragraph of The Secret Sharer and I actually understood what post-colonial and what the political implication of this and that meant.

Yung ibang essays nabasa ko na. Umappear yung piece on Nora Aunor and Himala sa Geopolitics of the Visible na inedit ni Roland Tolentino at hanggang ngayon ay binubuo ko pa rin. Favorite Neferti essay ko pa rin yung Fantasy Secret of Killing Time chuva.

friday night

Resulta ng survey so far para sa gimik night friday: The Diva and Tamadita and me pa lang ang go. Butasnachucks has to beg off because she's gonna be sick that day. Hehehe.

We're under a memocracy daw kasi. Hehehe. Pero wala talaga akong nakuhang memo tungkol sa nyowa nights, so baka kinain na ng black hole of the mother of all memos.

Nananawagan pa rin ako kina Mechajol at Dennis. Go or no go, yun lang po.

Siyangapala, a t, August 17 marks off my birthday shut off. Unless plans change, baka magpunta ako ng Boracay nun. Hey tamadita, do you remember that plan or shoot down na rin ba iyon?

on oprah:
ibig sabihin ba nito kami lang ni a t ang nagkakaintindihan when it comes to the queen of daytime talk? oh, well. at least nagiging masaya kami when we think of oprah's favorite things. ;-P

on the craft:

on kris aquino:
yeah, that was one catty write-up. too good not to blog pero paano na ang block assembly? ano'ng kris aquino chismis ang uungkatin at hihimayin natin?

on travelling by train:
definitely, the best way to get around if you want to save time. not the best way if you want to save time and look decent by the time you get to where you're going. well, kung rush hour at least.

on nyowa night:
too bad some of you didn't get the memo. pero meron, i can assure you. kaming mga taga-quezon hall ay parating up-to-date sa mga bagay na may kinalaman sa memo.

on the proposed block assembly this friday, july 9:
go ako diyan. wala naman akong plans. sa saturday lang meron kasi i'll be covering the UAAP season opening sa araneta. that's about it. babaeng kanto, update mo ako kung ano plano sa friday, k? thanks. :-)

Defining Kris Aquino

Defining Kris Aquino

Word IQ is a fascinating internet source, sort of like wikipedia and google, but better. If you want to learn about techie stuff, this is where you go. But they're not beyond encyclopedia and historical stuff. They also have tsismis. This has got to be the cattiest definition of Kris Aquino ever. As in! It talks about her illustrious roots and traces her showbiz career from teenybopper to Massacre Queen.
Despite all this, Aquino is still best-known - and most notorious for - her troublesome lovelife. Over the past decade, she has been linked to two married men. Her latest relationship became a cause celebre in 2003 after it ended in gunplay and Aquino accused her lover, on live television, of giving her venereal disease, gaining her infamy.
But wait, there's more:
"When the very controversial issue broke out; when Aquino admitted in a Television News; that she had a relationship with a married actor, and that she was battered; and that she had been infected of STD; so many civil organizations had proclaimed her a heroine of women. It is so ironic because the honor should be given to the legal wife of that said actor (who Aquino had snatched)."

"Aquino is the Philippines' version of Howard Stern. A taboo in Philippine Televison."
Is that definitive or what? I got this while bloghopping and got to The Jason Journals. As he said, this is way too catty, if not libelous. But fun reading all thoroughout.

Read all about Kris Aquino here.

Brought to you by PLDT Vibe because my prepaid card ran out and this is just way too catty not to blog.

Panawagan

830pm yun.

Paramdam kayo para maayos ang schedule. Salamas.

Oh Delay!

Jol, I still think that the train is the best way to go around the city.

I don't know, Jol. It's taking f*cking forever to publish things around here. Alam ko dati lumalabas na yung titles. Might have to tinker with the template page but I don't have time na kasi I have to run and catch the train. Blast it.

And oh, I just realized why I'm freaking out. Hand me the Advils, it's my first day. Leche.

commuter girl

Technically, tama ka jan, CLF. According sa memo ni a t, Friday nights ay nyowa nights, unless you declare it block assembly nights several days in advance para masabihan ang mga respective nyowas na hey may block assembly so di muna tayo quality time. But The Diva, being married, every night is a nyowa night. So kailangan din ng extra advance notice so The Diva's nyowa wouldn't schedule any parties. Gets?

Exhibit A: The yellow prepaid LRT2 card from Recto to Katipunan. Exhibit B: The blue prepaid card for the MRT. Exhibit C: My Starbucket goddamned commuter mug na classic white. O di ba screaming forsaken commuterness? The LRT/MRT is still your salvation, Jol. Before the opening of the yellow line, I had to hike my way to Espana and get an FX or jeepney pag desperate na papuntang Philcoa. Or if I'm really being sadistic, jeep to Guadalupe para makapagMRT. Either way, it's an hour and a half to 2 full hours in jampacked hell. But since nag-open ang yellow line nung summer, napatingala talaga ako at may-I-sing ng Hallelujah. Walang tao ang yellow line nun, and in 20 mins, nasa Katipunan na ako, nyahahaha! Then again, since classes started in June, yung mga bukananginang de kotse sa Katipunan inaabot ako ng almost an hour from Katips to UP. Leche talaga.

As for The Craft, I really don't care much about it right now. I vaguely want to do things, but I have no burning desire to kick anyone's ass. Feeling ko I'm just resigned to my fate. This is how it is. Originally, why I'm here in the Dungeon teaching is because I wanted to have my self respect back. I wanted to get my credentials and show those asses that hey, I can do better than you. Saka I'm tired of people there thinking na I'm all artsy. But thing is, commercialization kung commercialization kasi. Park your IQ outside the gate. Kung tutuusin, I'm playing a more dangerous game now: My toy are young vulnerable, malleable kids who think they can save the world. As opposed to the supposed stupid masses who would just take anything the tube will give them. I don't know, man. What do you do? I never did like Ophrah all that much.

Postscript on the memos

Apparently, xkg, due to the bureaucratic crap here, you didn't seem to get the memo regarding nyowa night and gimik night. dennis, true to form, complains why are we letting all these memos rule our lives but alas, dennis, we are bureaucratic slaves whose sole purpose in life is to read memos. when we don't get memos, we try to unearth old ones. teehee. para naman, xkg, you don't feel na ikaw lang ang may nyowa night, dapat nyowa night din ako kaya lang my nyowa's neighbors' building was burning and he had to pull his hysterical mom from the scene before she inflicts any damage to the firemen and/or herself.

to you boys and girls who are riding the metaphorical roller coaster of quarter life crisis, eto lang advise ko. think oprah. si dennis, being so apart from us all syempre mapapamura. pero tulad ng sinabi ni arlyn sa akin habang nagkaka-crisis sa aeon bookstore last wed, "oprah's a multi-millionaire, we should listen to her." kapag na-sasad ako, iniisip ko lang ang oprah's favorite things at sumasaya ako. sorry, victim of advertising ako e. at least, jol, alam mong may nabibiktima ka sa mga ginagawa mong copies. kung hindi pa rin umubra iyon, isipin niyo na lang si churchill was a late bloomer. mabigat nga ang pressure sa atin na i-fulfill ang ating "destined for greatness" future.

uy, The Diva, malapit ka pala sa APC, me old flame akong nagtatrabaho dun. wala lang. nothing is so bad with being kids. (actually, as a person who works with kids and for kids, i think i should be offended.) I have not so much lost faith in The Craft but I do question so many things about it and i am not particularly happy with it but heck, i'm still in it right? i am only trying to get now what I actually need. i am no longer this wide-eyed innocent who would take everything like it was the word of God. It is also about playing the game right. But when I think about it, i will still not take any other course or enroll in any other university. i guess, The Program is the least evil in a sense.

Unang beses kong mag-commute dati, Grade 3 ako nun.

Paano pa kung may overtime work ako?

One with the masses ka.

Anyway, mula lugar namin hanggang Cubao, maraming option. Puwede akong mag-taxi.

E aircon pa man din.

So ilang minuto yun?

E puyat pa man din ako kagabi, at medyo natutuwa dahil maaga-aga ako nakalabas.

Okay, solb.

Quarter life crisis, nyowa nights, CLF's weekly sked, and the lost of faith in everything...

Hah! I rule! At least sa opisina namin, nakamaong at t-shirt pa rin ako. As in UP get-up pa rin, with a bit wider tummy siguro dahil sa mga pakain dito.

Anyways, yep. I miss the good old days. Syet, parang last year lang ang 1998 o 1999 (climax ng college life) pero mga 4-5 years na pala.

Di ako sure sa nyowa nights. From monday to friday, diretso uwi ako.

Man, ang trapik mula makati hanggang peyups. Mas mabuti talaga pag weekends tayo mag-block assembly.

Tapos, errr, ano pa ba topic sa title... a, yung quarter life crisis.

Yep, I miss beer. 'Nuff said.

Amen.

Tama. Life is a game. Ikaw bahala. Anything goes. Enjoy the ride. Hehe, malay natin pag namatay tayo, ang last visual natin, GAME OVER.

Hehehe.

not nyowa nights

I would like to point out some pointers regarding a t's memo on nyowa nights:

1. Fridays are not really nyowa nights. But it being Friday, I had already escaped from The Dungeon and the invite came already too late. Had you said something earlier, I would have gone there, since the previous commitment involved a not-too-savory-affair involving the Diva's former employer. Hey Diva, I have got to talk to you about this byutifool air shit or I'll be doomed to going to parties with contained air and belly dancing by the group's Marquise, although I must admit that seemed tempting. The belly dancing, I mean.

2. If we're going to make the block thingie more or less a regular thing, I suppose I can parly other, er, commitments to other nights. But this is a bit tricky since I had just agreed to keeping a Tuesdays and weekends only commitment thingie, but argh! There's always a way out of that.

3. How come I'm not invited to gimik nights on Thursdays?

4. Tamadita and I met up last night, although was tempted to walk away na because people only arrived nearly 10pm, and I had been there since like past 5pm, so I had to watch a CineManila feature, which I don't really object to. It was the most comprehensive and believable cinematic reincarnation of the "what if a young girl got drunk and mean guys took naked pictures of her and then forwarded it to a gazillion people," aka the Michelle Estevez Reaction. (In the local arena, Xerex botched that one bu going all Cruel Intentions about it.) There's a really funny bit about getting ketchup out, but I reserve that for block assemblies.

Congratulations, we're now in midlife

Congratulations, we're now having a midlife crisis.

Or quarterlife, or whatever. Hey Diva, you're not alone. I've been having that stagnant feeling for some time. I know I said I was going to hack this teaching shit so I can be good and righteous and do something for this country and all that blah. But who am I kidding? I miss my goddamn paycheck! You know this feeling intensifies when your sneaker soles are busted and suddenly you think, Fuck, why am I busting my arches by wearing high heeled shoes when I can be so comfy in tsinelas and sneakers? Then your sneakers die on you and your other running shoes are like 4 years old, and you think, do I buy myself 4k sneakers or do I get flats which I can wear to class? Fuck.

I don't know about the party atmosphere though. I was never very social in college and though I sank deep into it after, I never really felt comfy either. I just like hanging out and talking all deep shit about Disney or the next Coke commercial or whatever. But I swear if you use something highfaluting like "hegemony" and "state apparatus" in the same sentence, me and Butasnachucks will kill you.

I really wasn't a quill person. I can also take them one or two at a time, but more than that, I'll be dead swimming. I don't know what is it about them either. But some of them are okay. I also think peer pressure doesn't stop with graduation. People form tribes, and have loyalties to their tribes. If somebody new came along and tried to get into that group, that person will get shunned. Maybe not all the time, and maybe people will be grudgingly accepting and all, but generally, nah.

I'm not really sure if we're like this because "The Program" fucked us up. It sounds very AA, this "program.' And Diva, "the masters" know there's something wrong. We've had meetings trying to solve the problem. Apparently, the impression that program people (both students and faculty) exude that unreachable air. You know, distant and pretentious, lazy and insolent and all. And that yeah, people graduate without even the capacity to write plain correspondence. How's that ei?

Also, please forgive me for making long rambling sentences which wouldn't pass my own evaluation if you submit this to me. I went here to post and ask people why they're so quiet, and here we go.

PS. Hey Diva, I get lost too, whenever I drop by Dennis' blog. I don't know the authors and ideas he rambles about half the time. I am so not into Oriental and Third World lit. I read what I can, but not as much as he does.

Another minor grievance: I opened my mailbox and there's this one liner from the supposed former mentor. I had mass sent out this email about ducks and he goes back to me with "hi j, kamusta na," smilies and all. What am I supposed to say? Drop him a million pound email rambling about events of the year past?

Memo

Here is a memo on the memos.

Last friday, being a nyowa night, jessel was absent from the usual block bantering. Arlyn, Dennis, and I had dinner at Likha Diwa then walked back to FC so that Dennis can go off screaming Hector in the dark. from time to time, we talked about the dead unrecognizable names Dennis posts in his blogs but last Friday was more about Labaw Donggon and Rizal and Bonifacio. Wow, memories.Got home a little after midnight with my toes sore because of my funny socks and because of walking all the way from FC to Philcoa.

Jol, Nathan, block assemblies can be scheduled on Fridays provided that an early memo countering nyowa night is provided. Thursday is gimik night but it seems to only apply to me and Arlyn.

I thought the Panitikabataan was interesting. The students spewing jargon and all and the teachers shooting them down. During our undergrad years, I've never been big on theory. probably because i got crappy teachers who tell me to unlearn what i have learned. (duh?!) but i think it is all exciting now especially with my project to make chaka the novels of Carla Pacis for my feminist theory class. but that mean i got to catch up with my theories and all.

AY SUSMARYOSEP!!!!!

www.klockworx.com

daan kayo. hehehe.

(remember the acronym? hehehe)

syet, may angas clone pa pala dati.

Jol! Long time no blog ha!

Walang gaanong brilliant pero I kinda liked the video game paper and the one on Autobiographical Narratives by women.

But I digress.

lakad.

“Ibang klase ‘to!”- sabi ng poster.
“Sure, right...” naisip ko.

Astig! Buti walang pila.
“Good evening sir...”
“Ah, miss, wala kayong value meal nung Chicken Fillet Sandwich?”
“Ay sir, wala pa po e...”
Okay lang, sige. Umorder ako ng isang sandwich, at isang large coke,
errr, pepsi.

Grabe, takam na takam na ako. Naalala ko yung commercial e, yung may
nangungulit na kalbo sa mga ka-tropa niya? Hehe, ganun siguro kasarap
yung sandwich, sa sobrang sarap, makulit. Hehe, at siyempre, may
“peeeepper maaaayyoo paaa!!!”

Napatingin sa akin yung babae, medyo napangit at napahiya, marami
sigurong nagtatanong.

Napanood nyo ba yung pelikulang “Falling Down,” yung eksena ni Michael

at french fries. Biglang naputol ang pagmumuni-muni ko- syet! Ubos ko na
pala agad!

nangyari.
“Baka naman malakas ka lang kumain, Jol?”
“Hindi a! Err, malakas ako kumain pero...”
At ayun, kinuwento ko na.
Nagulat sila, akala daw nila, bilog yung sandwich, at malaki gaya ng nasa
commercial.

maaayyyooo!”

Putsa, namimiss ko na yung Chicken Twister...
