Puwede Na! The Complete Pinoy Guide to Personal Finance

I have been meaning to post the book reviews. But as you may know, I was a wee bit preoccupied with our usual obs stint. And now that it's over, I can look forward to our postcolonial ek exam tomorrow! NOT.

So to distract me from postcolonial jargon, may I present to you my first book of the year: Puwede Na! The Complete Pinoy Guide to Personal Finance by Efren Ll. Cruz (NOT Reyes, as I keep telling myself).



I read about this in Newsbreak's little article that you can find here. It sells for P295, and a very very slim volume. If you gauge a book's worth by its thickness, then this might not do it for you. (Kung sulit ba sa kapal, kumbaga.)

I breezed through the pages actually. Can be read over the course of a very bored evening, that is, if you prefer to jump over the discussion about insurance which was actually quite redundant already. Anyhow, this is not my first foray into self-help/financial type books. I forgot to put down another book for last year's list--Francisco Colayco's Wealth Within Your Reach! Pera Mo, Palaguin Mo!

I don't know what it is with these financial books that they insist that they put exclamation marks in their titles, as if emphasizing personal finance management isn't enough or maybe they think the Pinoy audience is really helpless about this that they just have to put in the marks!!!

At any rate, Puwede Na! is a no-nonsense kind of book. The flap reads something like, "Are you the kind of person who lives to see payday?" or something like that. I haven't downloaded the accompanying program that comes with the book and which you can download from Platypus Publishing's website. So libro na, may libreng program pa. Sulit na rin siguro.
