Book number two is something Amy lent me because the story I was sounding off over lunch reminded her of this. Therefore, despite my headache, I wove my way through Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities. Damn remarkable read! Kublai Khan's empire is collapsing to ruin. Enter the Venetian merchant with his stories of all the cities of his journey.

Marco Polo describes the cities he visited to the Khan and because of the great language barrier, Polo had to use emblems and knickknacks from his knapsack along with gestures and sounds. There was excellent use of the chessboard, by the way.

Well, as for the 50 books thing, keri naman siguro. But at 4 books a month, it's a book a week. I had already finished "The Kiss" and what? It took me several weeks to finish it. Right now I'm alternating between "Life After God" and "Fast Food Fiction," both collections of short fiction. And since it's now almost February, and since it'll probably be another two weeks before I finish both, may backlog na ako agad ng ilang libro. Damn.

Hoy Dennis, pahiram naman ako n'yan Last Order. I know may copies around na Student Jubilee Edition ek, pero pahiram na rin.

Deadline ngayon ng UP National Writers Workshop, at wala na naman akong maisa-submit. Kailangan ko ng editor at mangungulit sa akin na tapusin yung mga ginagawa ko. Volunteer naman kayo o. Feeling ko, nasanay ako sa buhay na makakatapos lang ako kung may headwriter na mangungulit sa akin. Ayan tuloy, loser sa deadline. Damn ulit. Kelan nga ulit ang next deadline? Yun ang goal ko this year: finish enough decent stories to send to them workshops. Puwede naman nang short term goal yan di ba?

Kakagat ako dyan. That would be a nice regimen, around four books a month. Shall we? We just do it here and number it as we go along? My number one is "Last Order sa Penguin." well, by now alam na ninyo ang latest sa the misadventures of astrid. Kaya ibo-blog ko na lang itong 50 book challenge na aking napulot sa bookslut. Ano kagat tayo para naman tumalitalino ang ating mga conversations dito. Hahahahahahaha!

Heto, nabuburyong dahil pumasok na ang sangkatutak na student papers at mga midterms at kailangang magcheck. Okay na sana yun, kaya lang may consultations din ako for English 10 at meron lang talagang mga taong sadyang mahirap umintindi at nakakaubos ng halos 45 minuto para lang ma-gets niya na kailangang i-narrow down ang topic at kailangan niyang magkaroon ng some sort of organization sa kanyang essay. Nakaka-drain. Tapos malapit na rin ang GEC observations ko so kunyari kailangan ko nang maghanda at gumawa ng mga mas detalyadong lesson plans.

Sa kabilang banda, kailangan ko nang harapin ang labada ko. I love the smell of newly laundered bedsheets, pero it's just hell to wash them. Hay.

Everything about (Kris Aquino, er..) Metro Manila Film Fest

I was checking the site stats and I couldn't help but notice that a lot of people get to this site by searching for the results of this year's MMFF. A lot of searches are geared towards this year's Best Picture, and specially Crying Ladies or the actors involved in the film like Sharon Cuneta and Eric Quizon. Well, people are also looking for Kris Aquino pictures and Maui Taylor's boobs, but we shouldn't really concern ourselves about that now. Unless Gloria Arroyo decides to make Maui Taylor campaign for her, with pro-ageing makeup. Now that would have been weird.

To all the people who got here searching for the film fest, you won't really find anything substantial or critical here. Everything is a random rant, and yes, no blog post or conversation is complete without Kris Aquino. What would all the Pinoys do if she disappeared off the face of the planet? No more one woman entertainment, and that would be very bad indeed.
