Please try the following: lunes, abril 14, 2003but i was ready for my close up So Abi and I went to Industry Lounge last week for the "What's the Story, Manang Glory?" Jourdan invited us, he's the one who organizes the Rhyme and Rhythms gigs for Greenbelt. Strange fact no. 1: Neither of us girls knew where Industry Lounge was exactly. All we knew was that it was near Cash N Carry and it was in Filmore Street. We got off the MRT at the Buendia stop, and the cabbies there pointed us to Cabbie Boy as our designated driver. Cabbie Boy said that all the cabs there had drivers under 25. So he asked us where we were headed. "Ah yun yung bar ni KC Montero. We were invited nga sa opening. May rave party." Whoa. Cabbies who rave. Hehehe. We had this confusion as to what time the gig would start. Text message said 7pm, e-mail invite said 8pm. We arrived at 730pm for a gig that would start pala at 9. Hah! Eager beavers. Industry Lounge had a Sanctum-y feel to it. Mostly the same crowd of well-scubbed artiste-y types who do spoken word. Only difference is, everyone seemed to know everyone. Towards the end of the night, this band called Rocksteady played something which I recognized as vaguely Stephen Speaks-esque, which turned out to be a Speaks track indeed. More songs to which everyone knew the lyrics. Everyone but me and Rasta Guy, whom some of you thought is befitting of a police lineup. "Why are they singing Christian pop rock?" he asked. Uhm, kasi they're all from the same church? I was surrounded by Christians, which I didn't really mind. They were joking pa nga. Ipe-pray over daw nila ako. The conversion didn't work on me. Nyahahaha, evil evil me. My beef about this whole thing. Dalawang tao na ang naglabas ng photos nila from the gig, si Mojoflea at yung foreigner dude who takes really great pics. At sa lahat ng pictures na iyon, obscure kami nina Abi. I could see part of my shirt in one of them. But gah! Di yata talaga kami photogenic nung gabing iyon. Nung nag-improv na yung mga taga-acting workshop, sobrang asar-talo si Snow White, who said she was having an affair with the dwarf Dorphy, na tatay nina Eric at Epy. Hehehe. Tapos si Prince Charming ang pretty, di naman marunong magsalita at umarte. Enter Dorphy, aka Andres Bulate, aka Teddy na vocalist ng Rocksteady (rock si Teddy, gets?). Para siyang paraphlegic. Nakakatuwa. Dorphy saved the performance from falling apart. Jourdan and Honey also acted out an excerpt from Subtext, yung nanalo sa one-act play ng Palanca last year. They did the part with the "labo mo kasi walang U na may umlaut yung text mo sa akin." Nakakatawa. PInagdiskitahan ng audience yung props na burger and rootbeer kasi midnight na at gutom na ang mga utaw. I-iraffle na lang daw sa audience. Hehe. Which reminds me. Hoy Jol! Kelan na ang Adventures from the BIR mo? Kuwento naman kayo. Magsusulat na ako ulit. Cannot Find Server at kantogirl 12:07 a. m. |
