Suddenly I remember this scene in Home Alone where Kevin McCallister --ok, Macaulay Culkin--was nearly under siege by the Wet Bandits. He panics and then turns on the VCR where some gangster movie is playing. Every time the bandits attempt to come in, he would fast forward it to the nasty dialogue. Of course the bandits actually thought some evil mafia guy was there and was scared thoroughly. But by the time, Home Alone 2 came, and Kevin played the same trick on the evil butler played by Tim Curry, it was getting kinda old. And that's our useless speaking in movies trivia for the night.

Deprived ako. Hindi ko napanood yung live broadcast ng Oscars kahapon kasi nagsusulat ako. Hindi ko pa rin napanood yung replay nung gabi kasi nagsusulat pa rin ako. Kaya hindi ko alam kung funny pa rin ba si Steve Martin. O kung guwapo nga si Gael kasi nominated at Padre Amaro. Nung nakuha ko yung text ni Arlyn si Gino Padilla na yung inabutan kong kumakanta.

Inabot ako ng 4 am, medyo hilo na ako nun.

Pero nasilip ko yung performance ni Catherine Zeta-Jones at Queen Latifah ng "I Move On" kasi tinawagan ako ng friend ko para lang sabihin na production number na ng Chicago. Takbo naman ako sa kabilang bahay para habulin yun. Nakiramay na lang si Queen Latifah kahit feeling ko gustong-gusto na niyang magsayaw pero kasi buntis si Tita Sexy Catherine Zeta-Jones. I feel for you, Q.Latifah.

Oscar related kuwento pa rin. Kasabay kong nag dinner si C. Tinatanong ko kung sino ang mga nanalo. "Some unknown guy won for best actor." Sino, si Adrien Brody? "Yeah, kung yun man yung pangalan niya." Nasa Summer of Sam siya. "Darn. Congratulations, you are one of the few people who actually know the guy." Uh, di kami close eh. Ang sakit kasi sa ulo panoorin ng S.O.S. Pero astig ang soundtrack nun.

I remember this ad from the early or mid-90s. I think Toyota did better with the Anjanette Abayari as Darna in their Tamaraw FX ads. Or a great merger: Ms Salonga still doing an aria and Darna Anjanette heroically lifting her across the sky with this tortuous look on her face. Oooh. So this local radio station held a contest where you can win movie passes by giving your significant other's phone number. The station calls up that person to confirm that the S.O. claim is true. A balikbayan guy called and gave his girlfriend's number. The guy was so excited and all. The deejays get the girl on the air, and then the trouble begins. The following account is from a radio listener:

From what I heard while half-listening to the radio, the guy was quite enthusiastic and friendly and excited for them to call his girlfriend. When the girl answered, during the course of the conversation, she let it slip that she had a husband. So of course when the guy heard this, he was both incredulous and terribly furious! Seems like the girl met the guy and became his "girlfriend" only through the internet, because she was like, "(Name of guy)? From the Internet?" And the guy was like, "HUSBAND?? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? I'm your boyfriend!"

After the girl put down the phone, the flustered deejay could only say, "Uh, I'll still give you the passes, man. So sorry you had to hear that."

And the guy, still angry, said something to the effect of, "You can stick those movie passes up your ass!"

Ang masasabi ko lang for that guy, aray. As in. So this is how we use technology. What binds us together also give rise to the seeds of the new infidelities. People will always find ingenious ways of fooling around.
